The annual Baton Rouge Area Tour of Ponds and Gardens the beauty and the pleasures of water-gardening—an area in which the sponsor, Harb’s Oasis, is something of an authority. Presented by the Deep South Koi and Pond Society, this tour visits the private ponds of homeowners in the Baton Rouge area as they open their backyards to show off their waterscapes.Since the tour’s inception, over $110,000 has been raised and given back to the community. PLAY DIRTY ADVENTURE TRAIL
If running through an obstacle course in the mud is your idea of a fun morning, the Play Dirty Adventure Trail Run is just the event for you. The run takes place at the Baton Rouge Fairgrounds Saturday at 9 a.m. The event is open to participants ages 14 and older and will feature a giant mud pit, slip and slide slalom, elevated balance beam, tunnel slosh and much more. The Baton Rouge Zoo will honor its endangered species Saturday. The day will be full of fun activities for the entire family. Most importantly, visitors will learn why these species are in trouble and what we can do to help save them. AIDS CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL
The 29th Annual International AIDS Candlelight Memorial will take place on Sunday. This globally-recognized memorial is among the world’s oldest HIV/AIDS remembrance, awareness and community action events. The Candlelight Memorial supports individuals living with HIV/AIDS by reducing negative stigma, promoting testing and prevention, and continuing the fight against this disease. For the Baton Rouge observance, HAART has planned a candlelight vigil and a memorial walk beginning at North Boulevard Town Square. 6:30 pm
